For years, I searched for simple ways to care for my legs after long days of standing and walking. I wanted something easy to make with ingredients I already had at home. That’s when I decided to try a homemade blend of cloves and garlic.
At first, I wasn’t expecting much. I simply wanted a relaxing massage oil. But after making it part of my weekly routine, I noticed my legs felt more refreshed, my skin looked healthier, and taking a few quiet minutes for self-care became something I genuinely looked forward to.
My Homemade Clove and Garlic Oil
You’ll need:
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- 2 cloves of fresh garlic, lightly crushed
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Add the cloves and garlic to the olive oil and warm everything over very low heat for about 15–20 minutes. Don’t let it boil. Remove from the heat, allow it to cool completely, then strain the oil into a clean glass container.
In the evening, I gently massage a small amount onto my legs using slow, upward motions, starting at my ankles and working toward my knees. I usually continue for five to ten minutes on each leg.
Why I Enjoy This Routine
Cloves have a rich, warming aroma that makes every massage feel soothing, while garlic has been appreciated in traditional home remedies for generations. Combined with olive oil, the mixture glides smoothly over the skin and leaves it feeling soft and nourished.
For me, the biggest benefit is taking time to slow down. After the massage, my legs feel relaxed, and my skin looks moisturized and well cared for.
The Habits That Go Along With It
I’ve also found that a few simple daily habits make me feel my best:
- Going for a short walk every day.
- Avoiding sitting or standing in one position for too long.
- Drinking plenty of water.
- Eating colorful fruits and vegetables.
- Resting with my legs slightly elevated for a few minutes whenever I can.
This homemade clove and garlic oil has become one of my favorite evening rituals. It’s simple, affordable, and easy to prepare. While everyone may have a different experience, it’s a routine I genuinely enjoy and one I’ll continue using as part of my regular self-care.
