For years, I searched for a simple skincare routine that didn’t require expensive products. After trying many different ideas, I kept coming back to one ingredient that was already sitting in my kitchen: baking soda.
When I first started using it, I was simply hoping my skin would feel smoother. After making it part of my routine, I noticed my complexion looked fresher, brighter, and more even than before. Over time, some of my darker spots appeared less noticeable to me, and my skin felt incredibly soft after each use.
My Simple Routine
You’ll need:
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons water
Mix the two ingredients until they form a smooth paste.
After cleansing my face, I gently massage the mixture onto the areas where my skin looks dull for about 20 seconds using light circular motions. Then I rinse with lukewarm water and apply my favorite moisturizer.
I usually do this once a week because I find that gentle, consistent care works better than doing too much all at once.
Why I Keep Coming Back to It
What I enjoy most isn’t just how easy it is to prepare—it’s how refreshed my skin feels afterward. My face looks cleaner, feels smoother, and has a healthy-looking glow that I really like.
I also make sure to drink plenty of water, eat lots of colorful fruits and vegetables, and take good care of my skin every day. For me, this simple routine has become one small part of a larger self-care habit that helps me feel confident.
Everyone’s skin is unique, so results may vary, but this has become one of my favorite homemade skincare routines because it’s quick, affordable, and easy to fit into a busy week.
Sometimes the simplest habits are the ones we stick with the longest, and that’s exactly why this little baking soda routine has earned a permanent place in my skincare routine.
