Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin Raised Their Daughters in a Beverly Hills Home That Refused to Look Like a Showpiece — Inside the House They’ve Filled With Decades of Memories

Robert Hayes

For a family associated with red carpets, fashion campaigns, television cameras and Beverly Hills, Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin’s longtime home has always been something of a surprise.

Instead of the gleaming white marble, enormous empty rooms and perfectly coordinated furniture often associated with celebrity mansions, their house is warm, crowded and unmistakably lived in. Its kitchen has honey-colored wooden cabinets and countertops crowded with appliances. The living room holds family photographs, inherited paintings, books, lamps and furniture that has clearly been used rather than staged for a photograph.

Some viewers have called the interiors “dated.” Others have joked that the rooms are too cluttered.

Rinna has never seemed particularly bothered by either description.

The house was meant to accumulate a history.

And it certainly has.

Harry Hamlin acquired the Beverly Hills property in the 1980s, years before he and Rinna became a couple. The pair later married there, raised daughters Delilah Belle and Amelia Gray there, and eventually allowed millions of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills viewers inside. (Los Angeles Times)

The House Predates Lisa — and Even Their Marriage

There is a reason the home doesn’t resemble something a celebrity couple bought fully furnished last year.

Its story goes back decades.

The property itself dates to 1939 and was originally built for James Roosevelt, the son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Hamlin acquired it in the mid-1980s and transformed the property into the Italian- and European-inspired home viewers recognize today. (Los Angeles Times)

There’s also an unusual piece of romantic history attached to it.

Rinna has openly discussed the fact that Hamlin originally worked on the house while married to his first wife, actress Laura Johnson. Rather than being intimidated by the home’s history when she and Hamlin became serious, Rinna eventually decided she was perfectly comfortable moving in. (Bravo)

Years later, the property became the setting for a very different marriage.

Rinna and Hamlin wed in 1997, and the ceremony took place at their Beverly Hills home. (Realtor)

Suddenly, the house Harry had owned before Lisa became their house.

Then Came Delilah and Amelia

The couple welcomed Delilah Belle in 1998 and Amelia Gray in 2001.

That transformed the property again.

It wasn’t simply the home of two working actors anymore. It became the place where their daughters grew up — long before either young woman became known for modeling, fashion or her own social-media following. (Realtor)

Years later, viewers would watch parts of that family life on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which Rinna joined in 2014.

But the house had already been filled with years of family memories before Bravo’s cameras arrived.

That helps explain why it never looked like a pristine reality-TV set.

It wasn’t one.

Their Kitchen Became One of the Most Recognizable Rooms

Anyone who watched Rinna’s years on RHOBH probably recognizes the kitchen almost immediately.

There is no enormous waterfall-marble island or minimalist wall of hidden appliances.

Instead, warm wooden cabinets line the room. Some have glass fronts filled with plates. A large wooden worktable dominates the center, while a substantial stainless-steel range sits against the tiled wall.

Coffee makers and other appliances remain visible on the counters.

Cooking utensils hang where they’re actually used.

It’s functional rather than meticulously concealed.

Bravo’s own home tour highlighted the rustic kitchen, and later videos repeatedly showed Hamlin cooking there. (Bravo)

That became particularly fitting because cooking has long been one of Hamlin’s passions.

In 2025, when he launched his pasta-sauce business, the same familiar kitchen became part of the story. Hamlin had spent years refining his rosemary and red-wine sauce, while videos showed him cooking at home as Rinna danced around the kitchen. (Realtor)

The glamorous Beverly Hills address had an unexpectedly ordinary heart: Dad standing at the stove making dinner.

Harry’s Famous Sunday Dinners Started There

Hamlin’s sauce wasn’t simply a celebrity branding exercise dreamed up in a boardroom.

He described it as connected to the Sunday-night pasta dinners he made for his family.

The recipe itself had roots in the time he spent in Italy during the 1980s, but it was inside the Beverly Hills house that it became part of the Hamlin family routine. (Realtor)

That makes those supposedly “dated” cabinets unexpectedly significant.

Delilah and Amelia grew up around them.

The family’s dinners happened around them.

Reality television was filmed around them.

And decades later, Hamlin was still cooking in essentially the same space.

Their Living Room Was Never Supposed to Be Untouchable

Rinna once gave the Los Angeles Times a tour of what she called her favorite room.

Her choice was revealing.

It wasn’t a dressing room filled with designer clothes.

It wasn’t some extravagant master suite.

It was the living room.

The room flows into the family and dining areas and contains cream-colored sofas and armchairs, wooden furniture, lamps, books, family photographs and art accumulated over decades.

Rinna explained that she wanted a room where someone could simply “flop down and get cozy.”

More importantly, she emphasized that it was a living room that actually gets used rather than one people merely walk past. (Los Angeles Times)

That philosophy explains much of the house.

Nothing appears terrified of fingerprints.

A Lot of the ‘Clutter’ Is Actually Family History

Look closely and many of the objects aren’t random decorations purchased by an interior designer.

Some belonged to Hamlin’s family.

Rinna told the Los Angeles Times that Harry built the house and that paintings and possessions handed down through his family became part of its interiors. (Los Angeles Times)

Family photographs sit on tables.

Books remain stacked where people read them.

Art doesn’t necessarily coordinate with the sofa.

Objects accumulated over different periods coexist in the same rooms.

There are also physical imperfections.

Rinna has previously pointed to cracks and wear in the house rather than treating them as disasters that needed to be immediately hidden.

Her design philosophy has essentially been that age should improve a home rather than destroy its character.

Even the Cracks Were Part of the Point

The family’s approach to the property was almost the opposite of constant renovation.

Rinna has explained that she wanted the home to become better as it aged — with chips and cracks adding character rather than automatically triggering another redesign. (House Digest)

Some signs of age were particularly meaningful.

The Los Angeles Times noted that parts of the house still showed effects associated with the 1994 Northridge earthquake. (Los Angeles Times)

In another celebrity mansion, imperfections might have disappeared beneath a multimillion-dollar renovation.

Here, age became part of the visual language.

Old stone.

Worn furniture.

Inherited objects.

Terracotta floors.

Different woods.

Layer upon layer of possessions.

It’s an aesthetic that looks especially unusual now, when so many celebrity houses photographed online have nearly interchangeable cream interiors.

Their House Became a Character on RHOBH

When Rinna joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, viewers began seeing the home regularly.

And it stood out.

Other cast members lived in lavish properties that sometimes seemed designed to demonstrate wealth. Rinna and Hamlin certainly weren’t living modestly — their Beverly Hills property itself is highly valuable — but its interiors didn’t scream for attention in the same way.

Bravo eventually published tours of the home, including the kitchen, living spaces and Rinna’s closet. (Bravo)

Viewers saw exactly what made it unusual.

There was stuff everywhere.

Real stuff.

Coffee machines.

Framed photographs.

Stacks of books.

Decor collected across decades.

Pots and pans.

Furniture that wasn’t replaced every television season.

And, inevitably, people had opinions.

‘Dated’ Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Cheap

The house is a good example of how misleading celebrity interiors can be.

A kitchen with brown wooden cabinetry may look less fashionable on Instagram than one covered in white marble, but that doesn’t say much about the value of the property surrounding it.

Realtor.com described the family’s Beverly Hills residence as a multimillion-dollar home and estimated its value at around $4 million in a 2025 feature. (Realtor)

The hilltop setting, substantial footprint and Beverly Hills location are part of that value.

The Los Angeles Times previously described it as a roughly 5,000-square-foot hilltop property with a Franco-Tuscan California aesthetic. (Los Angeles Times)

In other words, “old kitchen” and “Beverly Hills mansion” aren’t mutually exclusive.

Outside, the House Feels Almost Like a European Retreat

The exterior spaces provide another side of the property.

The California setting is softened by mature landscaping, shaded terraces and European-inspired architectural details.

French doors connect interior rooms with the garden.

Rather than sharp modern lines, glass walls and enormous expanses of concrete, the house leans into warmth and age.

It has often been described as Italian-villa or Franco-Tuscan in style. (Los Angeles Times)

The result is less “new Beverly Hills mansion” and more home that has gradually disappeared into its landscape.

That was intentional.

Lisa and Harry Also Got Married There

Perhaps the most important reason they have kept the house so personal is that it isn’t merely real estate.

It is part of their relationship.

Rinna and Hamlin married on the grounds of the property in 1997. (Realtor)

Then they brought their babies home there.

Their daughters became teenagers there.

Eventually, Delilah and Amelia became adults and moved out.

Bravo cameras came and went.

Rinna eventually left RHOBH after eight seasons.

Through all those versions of the family, the house remained.

That makes a redesign more complicated emotionally than replacing some cabinets because social media thinks they’re old-fashioned.

The Daughters Eventually Wanted Something Very Different

Perhaps the funniest twist is what happened when Amelia and Delilah began establishing homes of their own.

Their aesthetic was noticeably more contemporary.

When Amelia was searching for her first apartment, her wish list included a “pretty kitchen island,” a “pretty refrigerator,” large windows and plenty of closet space. (Bravo)

Later, Amelia and Delilah shared a house with a much sleeker kitchen.

Bravo described the space as chic and contemporary, with white cabinetry, gold hardware, a farmhouse sink, marble surfaces and high-end appliances. (Bravo)

It looked almost like the generational opposite of their parents’ kitchen.

Amelia Was Ready to Leave — but Lisa Had to Learn to Let Go

Their daughters moving out also became part of the family’s reality-TV story.

In 2020, Amelia prepared to move away from her parents’ home and into her own Los Angeles apartment.

Rinna admitted that the transition required her to fight the urge to become a “hovering helicopter parent.”

Amelia, meanwhile, was excited about having a place that reflected her own preferences. (Bravo)

Eventually, the sisters lived together in what Amelia called their “perfect lil house,” complete with a gray-and-white kitchen and a much more modern atmosphere. (Bravo)

The girls raised in Harry’s rustic Beverly Hills home had developed their own taste.

Which, frankly, is probably exactly what parents expect.

Delilah Later Created Her Own Version of ‘Cozy’

Interestingly, though, the daughters didn’t entirely reject their parents’ philosophy.

Delilah’s later home was modern, but her living room wasn’t a sterile showroom either.

Bravo described a worn-in leather sofa covered with mismatched pillows and blankets, books, a dog bed and warm lighting. Delilah herself called the space cozy and joked that it was the reason she stayed home. (Bravo)

That sounds suspiciously similar to Rinna’s description of her favorite living room years earlier.

Different furniture.

Same idea.

A home should be somewhere you actually want to live.

The Family Has Changed Dramatically Since Those Early House Tours

The two little girls once photographed around their parents’ Beverly Hills house are now grown women.

Delilah, 27, has pursued modeling, music and acting.

Amelia, 24, has built an international modeling career.

Rinna, now 63, has transformed herself from soap star and reality-TV personality into a fixture of fashion events, while Hamlin, 74, continues acting and pursuing projects including his food business. The couple were still appearing together publicly at the 2026 Emmy Awards on September 14. (People.com)

The house, however, remains instantly recognizable.

Their Marriage Has Lasted Nearly Three Decades Too

The permanence of the house mirrors something else about the family.

Rinna and Hamlin have been married since 1997.

In March 2026, Rinna acknowledged that marriage isn’t endlessly glamorous, describing it as something that can require considerable work. Yet she also made clear that Hamlin remains the person with whom she wants to do that work. (E! Online)

They are an odd match in some ways.

Rinna is famously extroverted, fast-talking and comfortable making herself the center of a scene.

Hamlin often comes across as quieter and more domestic.

On RHOBH, one of the running contrasts was Rinna creating chaos somewhere while Harry calmly cooked dinner.

Somehow, it worked.

And the Kitchen Is Still Harry’s Territory

Years after viewers first watched Hamlin prepare meals on Bravo, the kitchen continued to serve the same purpose.

His pasta sauce venture brought cameras back into the room.

The cabinets were still wood.

The counters were still crowded.

The range still looked thoroughly used.

And Harry was still cooking.

Realtor.com reported in 2025 that Hamlin’s sauce grew out of the Sunday dinners he prepared for his family, describing the product as something of a love letter to his children. (Realtor)

That’s a detail that makes the room’s refusal to become fashionable feel almost appropriate.

Replacing everything would arguably erase part of what made it theirs.

A House That Actually Looks Like 30-Plus Years Happened Inside It

There is something almost rebellious about the Hamlin-Rinna house now.

Celebrity homes are increasingly presented as finished products.

Perfect surfaces.

Neutral palettes.

Hidden appliances.

Furniture positioned as if nobody has ever sat on it.

Their Beverly Hills home tells a completely different story.

The furniture doesn’t all match.

There are objects everywhere.

The kitchen hasn’t been redesigned to follow every new trend.

Family photographs remain visible.

Inherited art sits beside newer possessions.

And the rooms carry evidence of the people who have actually occupied them.

Rinna once described wanting a house whose chips and cracks would become more appealing with time. (House Digest)

Decades later, she essentially got exactly that.

‘Too Cluttered’ or Exactly What a Family Home Should Be?

Whether someone loves the interiors is entirely subjective.

A minimalist might walk into the living room and immediately want to remove half the objects.

Someone else might find the accumulated layers comforting.

But calling the house “humble” can also be misleading. This is still a valuable Beverly Hills property occupied by two successful actors. Its unusual quality isn’t that it’s modest real estate; it’s that the family hasn’t styled its interiors to constantly advertise that value.

And perhaps that is what makes old photographs of it so fascinating.

Behind Lisa Rinna’s glamorous public image, Harry Hamlin’s acting career, Amelia’s runway appearances and Delilah’s fashion shoots is a surprisingly ordinary visual record of family life.

A kitchen counter covered in appliances.

A sofa people actually sit on.

A piano.

Stacks of books.

Inherited paintings.

Cracks that nobody rushed to erase.

And rooms that look very different from the homes their daughters eventually chose for themselves.

After decades in Beverly Hills, the house isn’t frozen in the past.

It simply carries the past with it. (Los Angeles Times)
